It all starts with a "Hello"...

I am pretty happy with myself and with life but think two is better than one.

I can be a bit reclusive but also love going out and doing things; love drama, but only in a play or show; am a bit cynical, pretty skeptical by nature and yet somewhat idealistic in that I'd like the world to be better place. I've come to believe that eliminating religion and encouraging the art of thinking for, and being responsible for, oneself would be an improvement.

Leisure & Fun

TV preferencesNews, Documentaries, I don't like TV
Favorite TV showsMy favourite show of all time is Fawlty Towers. However, I am not a huge TV fan. There are only a few things I'll watch other than the news or a documentary. Big Bang Theory, NCIS (not the LA version), Criminal Minds, Person of Interest.
Favorite movies typesAction, Science fiction, Comedy, Drama, Documentary, Thriller
Favorite moviesAnything Hitchcock, Doris Day or Cary Grant; the Big Lewboski; Se7en; Fight Club; Twelve Monkeys; Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas; Beetlejuice; Best In Show; any Jane Austen adaptation; American Beauty; Full Metal Jacket; Silence of The Lambs; et al.
Music typesRock, Classical, Blues, Jazz
Favorite artistsAlice In Chains, Rachmaninov, Mozart, Tool, Metallica, John Lennon, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Coltrane, Gillespie, Monk, Billie Holiday, Mission UK, Muddy Waters, Pink Floyd, Clapton, and others.
Reading selectionNews, Health, Philosophy, Political, Reference, Science
Idea of funMy idea of fun is anything that amuses me, excites my senses or makes me think. Learning is fun but so is intelligent conversation; a good play or movie; or a funny, live, comedy show. Day trips out of town, being outside in the garden, walking the dog, wine tasting, walking alongside a river, the Sound or on the beach are all things that I enjoy. It's also fun going to Happy Hour with a friend, dining out, strolling through a Farmer's Market or hanging out with my family. Most things can be fun if you're with someone you enjoy being with, and if you have the right attitude.

Political viewsVery liberal
Attend religious servicesNever
Goal in lifeMy political views are very liberal but also a blend of green party and socialist with a hint of non-conformist.

My goal in life are to be happy. My secondary goals are to be as self-aware as possible, learn as much as I can retain and to work on minimizing my flaws and weaknesses.

Looking For

Must haveIntelligence, Empathy, Oddities, Flirtatiousness, Wit, Thoughtfulness
Look for in a partnerI'm looking for a partner who is non-religious; comfortable with himself; non-materialistic; caring and considerate to others; easy-going; interested in politics and the world; and who is, at the very least, a liberal (though a progressive liberal or someone with socialist leanings would be even better). Someone who appreciates nature, is interested in the simple things, is okay with some "me time" and doing some activities/hobbies without a partner: It's important for you to value BOTH physical and emotional intimacy. Bonus points if you're somewhat unconventional and/ or non-traditional. You MUST definitely love dogs, or at least be able to tolerate them without freaking out about dog hair and muddy paws.
On the first dateFirst meeting is usually a drink at a local bar or in Seattle, a walk in the park or along a waterfront or coffee/tea somewhere.

As opposed to the first meeting, a first date could be anything from a trip to a comedy club, street fair or farmer's market, museum or show; a picnic at the beach/a park; a visit to the botanical gardens; a Sounders game; dinner and/ or a movie. Anything that we're both interested in doing.
