would much rather thump a drum than a bible!

can't figure out how to cancel this - doesn't look like there are any matches locally - same profile name on other dating sites if you really wanna find me, do so there.

I have just relocated to St Pete Beach, Florida. Hoping my new warm location will bring with it new experiences and warm people (and if it doesn't, I still have palm trees & sunsets to keep me heppy :D).

(yes, I expect you to read this before you write to me)
I am the ultimate in oxymorons... A hyper-responsible irreverent impulsive pragmatic optimist with a sense of humor that needs to celebrate the inane nonsense of Sponge-Bob or the cerebral humor of a Shakespeare comedy. I think life is too short not to stop to smell the roses, the garlic bread, the chocolate brownies,.. Life should be about finding the happiness - every cloud may not have a silver lining, but if you don't let a little gray sky get you down, a walk in the rain isn't a bad thing. When you are happy, skipping should a definite possibility (& if that silver-lining-less cloud comes back, just skip in the rain).
I love being with people who are excited about what they do and proud of who they are. For me, shyness is not an option - I don't need to be the center of attention, but I want to, at least, be in the middle of the commotion.
I love to dance & am just as happy waltzing, salsa-ing, or making a silly-fool of myself on a club floor. I can't stand cigarette or, worse, cigar smoke and I don't drink - but, I have friends who do both (but no smoking inside *my* house or car!) & I have been known to play bartender at more than one party (even though I don't know what I'm actually making).
I am an atheist, but I love to celebrate the secular & human side of holidays. I have a definite belief in right & wrong and will not tolerate bigotry, racism, or hurtful humor… but a little quiet cattiness can be great fun.
My likes? All kinds of music from Orff's O Fortuna to WWII swing, to classic rock, to top 40 (just don't ask me the names of the bands). I've been known to start a poker game, but I don't gamble for money. I love to travel & to explore something new & different, but I can stay home & play a mean game of gin, too. I love to cook, and I'm happy at most restaurants, from a little dive to a fancy dress-up place (but if the fresh pepper mill is more than 3 feet long, I *will* start to laugh as the waiter approaches). I like movies & shows & street performers. I like to hear my friends play in clubs or marching bands in a parade. I love fireworks.
I like playing sports, even though I'm usually awful (I *can* throw a spiral & hit low & outside), I don't care about who wins, but I do enjoy friendly competition. I love to dance (see above), swim, skate, and I was the monkey-bar champion as a kid. I've played volleyball on ships at sea & managed to get the ball over the net, but I'm not quite as good without the ground rocking & my opponents losing their balance. If the ball comes right to me, I'm not horrible at tennis, but if I have to run for the ball, the ball usually wins & I'm usually laughing too hard at my mistakes to care.
I will stop moving for movies (if you know who the Thin Man is, it’s a plus), cuddling in front of a TV or a fireplace, or the occasional round of backgammon.
I believe brains are far more important than looks, but I work hard to look good (yes, my pictures are current and real - I expect the same of yours. Strength is a big deal to me, especially strength of character. If your profile pic is somebody other than you, I will assume you are either ashamed of yourself or a liar & neither is a good match for me).
I tend to be the pied piper when kids are around (my own or others') & will start a game of tag or a romp on the trampoline. I believe strongly in women's issues, but I appreciate someone opening a door for me. I believe in good manners, good grammar (I am an admitted grammar snob), & good humor (the ice cream AND the attitude).
